Good online mode
Looks real nice
Provides long (though boring) gameplay
Car customization well implemented
No street racing
Drags and drifts suck now
Very monotonous gameplay
Cars feel really stiff

Racing modes have undergone some changes, but only superficially. The modes featured in the game are Grip, Drag, Drift and Speed Challenge. Grip races are your standard races with a few variations while Speed Challenges require you to pass checkpoints at the highest speed possible. Drift and Drag are similar to the old games, only they’ve been tweaked to be as monotonous and boring as possible.

Drifting has become more forgiving in the sense that you don’t lose your score if you bang into walls. The only screwup is that the cars don’t seem to swerve as controllably as they did in earlier; they seem more stubborn and unresponsive, and it isn’t as easy or satisfying to drift at extreme angles and speeds anymore. Pumping up the simulative feel of the game has had an adverse effect on the Drifting, which used to be my favorite part in the previous NFS games; now I just can’t stand it anymore.

Drag races have gone to the dogs too. There’s this mini-game you have to play before EVERY drag race, where you heat up your wheels. While it’s fun for a bit, it becomes a real 'drag' all too quickly and makes you positively hate drag races.

If it’s any consolation, the online mode is rather solid. The career mode has been well integrated with the online mode – which is something they should’ve done in all NFS games. Just go online while you’re playing the career mode and the game tracks your progress and compares it on the leader boards. If you wish to play online, you can just hop on to the multiplayer mode and play with either your own car or the ones that are provided in each race. Joining a match is painless, simple and fast... only there aren’t too many servers up all the time.

When you do connect to an online match though, there are the same boring races waiting for you. All the stuff I loved about the NFS franchise has been sucked out of this game, and what’s left is a rather unappealing and uninspired experience. The game is quite stable if you’ve got a good rig though, but that’s nowhere next to enough to warrant a purchase.

most wanted! best game!
Toby @ Jun 08, 2008
all i have seen posted for NFSPS is crying about i have to do this or it requires to much braking WAAAAHHHH! shut up! im sorry you actually have to tune your car for a change, just like real racing drivetrains handle differently weight and braking issues are important. you cant slap a turbo on a car with stock internals and boost it to 37 PSI and expect everything to be perfect with high horse in real life! doesnt work like that! so for all of you who want it all done for you. go play ridge racer and stop crying about having to work to be good!
Eric @ Apr 09, 2008
the thing is that if u try to brake when the setting is on rookie you dont have to brake. it brakes for you. thats probably why u have the trouble you do. if you want full control try turning it onto king and turn off the esp, lsd, and traction control.

Well the GOOD's and BAD's about Pro Street

The GOODS's

Nice Racing Graphics.
Good Amount of Cheats
Plenty of variety cars to buy

The BAD's

Worse car handling
Car Damage
One time only cheat applying
Bad customizing choices

Well the game would be rated 2/10. Well NFS team. Its hard to come up to my expectations. Bettter Luck Next Time...You'll need it.
Shreyas @ Dec 23, 2007
Well all those who hate Pro Street,Well i am with you for sure. The car controls are damn bad i bought the game and played it for 5 to 10 mins and then ditched it and neva played it again. Its just cheap to see that its from NFS. Carbon and Most Wanted were pretty good and Pro Street is the worst, cheap racing game ever played and created on earth, carb nebula, the universe. The person who would love this game would be a serious idiot.

Well Cheers
Pro Street Sucks...Big Time...
Shreyas @ Dec 23, 2007
hi man dis game is hot n it has great going n i hav nt seen gam lik dis b4.......
yudi @ Dec 18, 2007
I think this is the worst NFS from EA.The control of the car is so bad that I've abandoned the game after 5 minutes of playing.
Good thinks:the graphics of the car still remains very good
Bad thinks: the rest
Just the car looks well, but everything else doesn't look well.AND OF COURSE THE CONTROL OF THE CAR IS.....JUNK.OK so I will wait for Juiced 2 and forget about this junk game.I hope next year EA will come back to making good games again.
Vicenzo @ Dec 13, 2007
i play pro street and im just bored playing it,they took out full bonnet veiw,i thought they would put in side car veiw like dirt but they havent, handleing of the cars not realistic even when u mess with the settings u go against same horsepower cars but they take the rip, tracks isnt that bad but background details are lame the game seems half arsed to me,my ratings are
graphics=4/10
gameplay=3/10

Need for Speed
its been always been a benchmark in racing games by making some really good versions like NFS MW.
but with this version they gone totally off track from what they suppose and try to deliever.
maybe they run out of ideas for making a new great story like the one of NFS MW.
in NFS PS they want to change the trend and do something different, which in totality SUCKS
lets face it why would to run a street ready, modified , good looking car on a TRACK instead of STREET where it really belongs.
Siddharth Chauhan @ Dec 04, 2007
My all time NFS favorite was NFS 3: Hot Pursuit. NFS MW also did worked on NFS's USP - the cop chase. NFSz jumped the shark now.
Haris @ Dec 03, 2007
NFS PS good:
Good Damage system
Slightly Improved graphics.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
NFS PS bad:
Free roam mode and night time racing is left out in the game making it look rather common like Forza Motor Sport 2.
System requirements are outrageous. I have heard that the game does not produces high FPS even on Mid range PCs and even EA is also getting negative responses and is thus concerned about this fact.
It's just a so-so game with average music.
---------------------------------------------------------
The VERDICT:
5/10.
Buy this one at ur own risk.
consider titles like NFS U2 & Most wanted the best NFS games ever made!
Vicky @ Dec 02, 2007
I seem to agree with most people who feel that Most Wanted was the best installment of NFS Series. I think what really set it apart was besides racing, there was a real story, a purpose. The cop chases in Most Wanted pushed you to become a great driver. The day light gameplay was fun since you could literally enjoy the countryside as well as rock port city. Ive been a gamer since '80's, means ive really seen em all. I termed Most Wanted as a 'Mordern day classic', along side POP Sands of time. These are the only two games Ive played twice end to end. NFS Carbon was a total let down. I only bought it because I thought a needed a sequel to Most Wanted. I feel Prostreet once again neglects the wholesome experience which requires a good story, focusing only on physics and graphics.
Mohammed Lokhandwala @ Dec 02, 2007
does the game really suck so much? What about the graphics? No street racing??? What do you mean?????
gurupreet @ Dec 02, 2007
Prostreet is a "serious" racing game, in the league as Colin McRae Rally series etc. The realism is stressed on. Unfortunately, the players of NFS were lovers of the high speed adrenaline rush and not realism. The biggest crib probably would be the fact that in Pro Street a single crash can make the car undriveable, whereas till Carbon the car was as good as a battering ram.
And as far as racing realism goes, Colin McRae offers more.
igamer.in, Calicut @ Dec 02, 2007
Well we all are diff ppl & will have diff opinions abt this game.
This time EA has got me pumped up cause All the other installments were too arcady in the controls area, even for drifts it was way too easy if U had the time to learn to break at the right time. I love the drifts in PS cause the are so damn difficult. I use call myself DK, but here i'm more of Donkey Kong than Drift King. Many won't like the sim feel of it but I love it.... Change is the law of nature.... guys u need to change too. how long will U continue to race on streets and just press the throttle???? This game is not for noobs....period.
ks127 @ Dec 02, 2007
A Wish - Let the next NFS be track racing too.... NFS: FERRARI UNLEASHED!!! What a game it would make.... a complete history of the great Italian Marque. NFS has excelled in track racing before with great physics and damage modelling (NFS V : Porsche Unleashed / Porsche 2000). Let the next one be about Ferrari....
John @ Dec 02, 2007
NFS Franchise has been going downhill since Carbon (it took a jolt with Underground 2, but made amends with the excellent folowup, Most Wanted). Pro Street is a good game....and thats just it really....nothing else. The sheer amount of cars available for purchase in the game excited car buffs like me.... but th gameplay is a big letdown...The cars are extremely difficult to turn in (but this can be fixed by modding your car) Stock cars are crap... It's a good thing done by EA Black Box to deviate from the street racing scene (Carbon was boring and street racing got stagnated at that piont) But ProStreet just dosen't cut it. I REALLY had VERY high hopes for this one...still a great time pass...LOTS of customization and AutoSculpt is really good this time round........
John @ Dec 02, 2007
such a bad game my money got wasted I feel EA must be concern about this .I was totally hurt by playing this game.....
Plz improve in your next installment..
Samrat @ Dec 02, 2007
the game hasn't lived up to my expectations.....nfs has been degrading since carbon....the car damage thing isn't that good.....the cars as well are sluggish and u need to brake very often.....also the nitro can been used only for a limited no. of times as not in the case of mw or carbon.....the videos would seem to be very attractive and exciting but the gameplay is quiet boooring.....if u still want to buy this go ahead cause i won't be responsible for u not playing this game....there is also a cheat if you would like to know....enter the career mode and select code entry and then enter secret code and then enter "unlockallthings"....all the race tracks will be unlocked and cars as well......there's a lot of drag and the drift mode is worst....all in all i rate it 3/5
Samkit @ Dec 02, 2007
a nice and unbiased review Tech 2 , i really appreciate that , Nfs has gone downhill with pro street , it can never match forza 2 and gt at any given level . nfs has seen better days with most wanted and hot pursuit 2 . i hope they deliver what fans of the series want . we dont want that semi simulator , coz we already have gt and forza for that .

we want the best arcade racing experience that nfs delivered , but sadly ea has done a pathetic job with pro street . hardcore nfs fans are in for a big dissapointment with this game .
Rocky @ Dec 02, 2007
dude prostreat is the ONLY ONLY ONLY NFS game that i have ever Liked Till date, Play this game on a Ganester Steering Wheel seat, and use ur breaks, and play it on front view,

man its like the Real Simulation on a Street Race

Its like you are Takumi of Initial D, and are drifting against God Foot, and u have to apply the break at the correct time to get that perfect drift, Then again you need to know there is never just one line for a perfect drift, there are many lines you can take to get that same speed turn.

DUDE most wanted and carbon and all that was crap, it was like just sitting and pressing the gas and turn keys, once in a while tap out the gas, and occasionally the break

& this damage thing is so much, so that people dont actually go into streets racing
yo @ Dec 02, 2007
yeah NFS lost its touch with most wanted... carbon sucked ... more than that the interface sucked... I hated the carbon interface... and now this... i still have not laid my hands on this... as the reviewr said.. its always nfs 2se and nfs mw...
santhosh @ Dec 02, 2007
@ Saurav_rani .. It's a singleplayer game with online functionality for those who choose to use it..

@ Junak ... those cheesy cutscene have been replaced by really long, crappy animated sequences that'll bore the crap out of you.
Nikhil Singh @ Dec 01, 2007
NFS reached its peak with "Most Wanted". It cant get better than that. Everything else seems boring compared to it.
George @ Dec 01, 2007
it's a online game ? not a single player game ? plz reply
saurav_rani @ Dec 01, 2007
I was really looking forward to downloading this one for my PS2... Did they cut those cheesy "acting" scenes out, or are those still in there?
Junak @ Dec 01, 2007
Man..i 've never seen any gamer dislike a nfs game this much!!
the game must really suck!!!
