Performance and Key Features
When you have a phone that comes from a family like that of Asus, you know instantly that the product will be anything but slow. And this one takes the cake. How does it do that? By making use of the 520 MHz Intel Xscale processor, it's fast as hell!! Also with a 256 ROM and 64 RAM capacity the phone works better and faster than even the iMate JAQ3 and the O2. In fact, we stretched the phone's ROM capacity by running multiple programs and the P535 still showed no sign of slowing down. This I like!!
The screen is very responsive, only with the stylus though. Using the fingertip will only result in some inconsistent behavior. However, with a bit of nail you can have better luck using the touch-screen.
The P535 works on Windows Pocket Mobile 5, and buyers get an option to upgrade to the WPM 6, after it's launched, free! The interface is just like any other Windows mobile phone, and if you have used one, you know what I'm talking about. The system boot time of the phone, although, faster than the other Windows mobile phones I have tested, it still is quite painfully slow. Navigating across menus and sub menus, however, is hardly a problem. You have the customizable desktop, for easy access to your favorite programs. The start menu is where you can access everything else that the phone has to offer.
The phone features a full Qwerty touchscreen keypad, which needless to say is going to be a little painful to use. There are like a million places I have felt the need and urgency to send a message and found myself hitting the wrong letters and signs. This is owing to the fact that the keys are too small to tap and you can't use your fingers at all. Using the stylus is the only way out for which you will need to be stationary.
The phone's equipped with WiFi 802.11b/g, which works fine. Only you can't use more than one browser, which is surprising, considering a fast phone like that could easily handle more than one. Maybe we'll have better luck with Windows Pocket Mobile 6. To make your surfing experience better the phone also includes Java MIDP 2.0, so you can run scripts and also check your mails.
Even though the phone supports GPRS, it does not include EGDE - which I don't understand, since most PDAs these days do have this.
The pack comes with a whole lot of accessories. To begin with, you have the car charger included with the buy. You also get the Arkon car stand, which, if you have a car, you will appreciate instantly.
The phone integrates Pocket Office that includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint viewer. In fact, the phone also has a PowerPoint presenter that enables you to control your presentations with the phone acting as a remote controller through Bluetooth.
The voice command button takes you to the voice recognition terminal. There is a list of commands you can use. You can use this to dial or view a contact, start an application, play media etc. This phone also features an in-built GPS receiver with SiRF Star III chipset that can come in handy for avid travelers.
Believe me when I say that the phone is quite pleasantly fast as starting and closing applications is very swift. Although tweaking the phone stays harmlessly tricky in true Windows fashion. For instance, to select the right ring tone you need to check the ones you want to be accessed for the purpose in settings, and then you can select the ring tones through 'notifications and sounds'. Needless to say once you get the hang of it, you will be fine.
i use the p535 and i get a talktime with full charge of 4 hrs......now wat do u hav to say....????
