Altec Lansing iM510 Portable Sansa Speakers

Uses AA-sized batteries
Good sound quality for the size.
Well thought out and a complete package, an example being the carry case.
Manual is not illustrative.
Has a sub-woofer out but the compatible sub-woofer model from Altec Lansing is not sold in India.

As the drivers (or speakers) are very small (four 1-inch drivers), the speaker set is unable to reproduce bass very well. For that Altec Lansing provides a sub-out at the back of the speaker set. Though, you can only use a sub-woofer provided by Altec Lansing. The model number is BB2001. Unfortunately, this sub-woofer is not currently sold in India. Besides, the woofer needs to be connected to a power-outlet and would be suitable to be used at home.

Lastly a very well designed carry case is provided. There are compartments to put in the player, batteries and the power adapter. In fact the player compartment has an additional flap to make sure the player is secure. Additionally, three country specific plug attachments are provided for the power adapter.

I bought this portable speaker system about a year ago . There isn't a thing about it that I think isn't great and I'm tough to please with this stuff ....fabulous tone and range . Lots of volume , twice what I expected . My only dislike and that's minor, is that the player itself is a bit slow to fire up . Shuts down a bit slow too 10 seconds for start up I'd say about 3 for shut down . The Sandisk mp3 player beats the ipod in a pile of things . ipod does a big promo for stuff sandisk sansa already has , plus the battery is replacable and there's a tunable graphic equalizer and radio that can be recorded from then downloaded to you laptop where you can burn a disk from it . i pod is all big money spent to keep converting the lemings who can't judge what's in front of them . You say 'you can get much better non-portable options at a similar price tag.' where can I find recommendations please?

Nice review, but found a small mistake, why you call a speaker as a player. Right me if I am wrong.
