A bible cum pistol wielding psychotic Reverend, a scrawny little half-Mexican searching for lost gold, tons of hawt damsels in distress and clichéd bad dudes who seem to have stepped right out of the sets of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is what Call of Juarez is in a nutshell. Yes this is the same game released last year for the PC (reviewed here) and yes, I know we've been reviewing quite a few ports now but this one seems to be it for a while now so just bear with me as we guide you through one of the finest shooters to come out of the Wild West.
The reason I call this game one of the finest shooters to come out of the Wild West is not because it’s an exceptionally good game but because there just aren’t enough Western shooters on the block which is a shame since this genre has pretty much everything you’d require for an entertaining game. Now before I slip into the same intro I used for the game the last time we reviewed it, let’s quickly move onto the game at hand. Call of Juarez is the tale of two distinct people and how fate and a bunch of lost gold bring them both together in an unpleasant way. You have Reverend Billy Ray, a seasoned killer whose now become a man of the Lord but finds himself returning to his old ways after his brother and wife get brutally murdered all for the legendary gold of Juarez. And then you have Billy Candle, Ray’s nephew who set out to find the gold of Juarez only to be falsely implicated in the brutal murder of his "Maw" and "Paw". Since both Ray and Billy come with their own distinct personalities, developer Techland has injected different styles of gameplay to complement those personalities. While Ray is the gun totting badass, Candle is more of the silent type choosing stealth over force and while this works for most of the game, there are times when it all falls apart.
