Top 5 Cameras To Gift This Diwali
By: Gagan Gupta   |   Oct 19, 2006

Digital cameras make excellent Diwali gifts, whether they’re for a loved one or for yourself. They’re usually on most people’s wish-lists and there’s always a better model available than what anyone may actually own.

The good thing about shopping during Diwali is that you’ll always find some great deals on consumer electronics, making them an ideal purchase for the season. This Diwali, we’ve done a bit of research for you, on some of the best gifts you can give in each camera category. Check it out.

Olympus µ 700
It’s a total bummer when you can’t take your camera out on an outing, just because its raining or because there’s going to be too much dust or sand, that can damage the camera. Let’s face it, when you have a vacation camera, you want it to cover every part of your vacation, right?

This is why I recommend the all-weather Olympus µ (mju) 700, which is not only weatherproof, but also looks great. With a good 7.1 megapixel resolution under the hood, and an ultra compact dust/water/scratch resistant ultra-compact body outside, and a price tag of only Rs. 13,000 (street price) the µ 700 makes a pretty good buy for all purposes.

Can you tell me a dealer for canon powershot a640 in delhi. I want to purchase by christmas. Does the price quoted include the necessary accesories.

1. Olympus µ 700: take a look at the olympus stylus 720sw. Shock proof (except lcd) and underwater photography too

2. Canon powershot a640: swivel screen and full manual control options in addition to point and shoot. Uses regular aa batteries. Waiting for image stabilisation and optical zoom on videos

3. Sony cybershot t10: look at the t30 also. Optical zoom in video, plastic protective cover over lcd, much longer battery life and a larger3 inch screen

4. Panasonic lumix dmc fz50: great features with rings for focus and zoom like on dslrs, a swivel screen, long zoom and optical image stabilisation. However a lot of reviews complain about "noise". Also look at canon powershot s3is

5.Nikon d80: also look at olympus evolt e-330. The lcd actually shows a live preview and swivels
