E3 2007 Disappointments

Huxley: Vaporware Edition

Huxley is one game that’s been on our radar ever since we heard of it. You can’t blame us. A first person shooter, made using the Unreal 3 engine, set in a persistent world sounds like one killer MMOG. The game got a lot of media coverage in E3 2005, and was rated as the Best Online Game of the event. During E3 2006 all eyes were on Huxley, and while a lot of people commended it for  implementing the first-person shooter aspect in a persistent universe, others thought of it as an extremely ambitious project that would more likely than not go bust.

I was amongst the optimistic half of the lot, but this year’s E3 has left me in doubt. There was absolutely no coverage or even a mere mention of the game, let alone a full fledged CG (or gameplay) trailer. What disappointed me even further was that the game’s website (mini-site rather) hasn’t been updated since last year. Has the game been canceled or will we ever get our hands on it? We can’t tell, and this year's E3 didn’t help either. What the hell are you up to Webzen!?

As for other things which were disappointing was that they didnt announce anything like, RUMBLE for SiXaXis or anything. also, There has been no Info if Online Gaming on Wii, I was expecting that. The disappointing thing in MS conference was that.. they didnt give SCell any showcasing.. I mean, they should have mentioned that its an exclusive and how proud they are of having it.

E3 basically became more like a place for Hi Profile Guys, and there was little or no games of the quirky kind shown or found hidden by people this time.

Also no Kentai hall. So no chance to see those Strange and New kind of Gaming Peripherals. it was like a science museum in there.

With E3 planning on Moving(Rumour) I hope they get back to the old and huge show they were.

I read first about Huxley from you guys..just the fact that a MMO will have uber gfx amazed me(how many MMOs are there with awesome gfx? Not many!) sad nothing was shown :(

HellGate London?! The trailer of that thing E3 05 was cool. After that .. saw a gameplay movie last year.. didnt look oh so interesting to me..

UT III was first announced as a PS3 exclusive, but then again it became MPtf. everyone complained why Sony was loosing exclusives and not caring about Third Party games.

Now they FINALLY do something right and people get POed :P This is a never ending thing I guess. Atleast its COMING. Not like its not.

You always have the trusty PC to play it in. And if its anything like UT2k4 it will be compatible in Non ULTRA high end rigs :)

Well, most of the people who have a PS3 now bought it mainly for MGS 4, Also, 360 sold around 6 Million by JAN 2007. Ps3 has already sold >3 Million Units and by the looks of it with the recent Temp. Price cut and all. it will easily reach 6 million by the end of the year. So I dont think there will be much of a problem.

Also DUDE! That trailer was simply awesome. I mean, people already have gone so philosophically deep into that trailer describing the fight between Raiden and the immortal VAMP. The trailer even gave some info on how Revolver became such a huge force to reckon with from being that silly guy in the olden days (MGS3) The trailer was from Nowhere Disappointing.
This Trailer Teasing has been a long tradition of the series, Its always been like this!
