With 8.5 Million fans waiting, Blizzard couldn’t afford to delay the release of their first expansion for World of Warcraft. Neither could they give those fans a half-assed game, so they were in a bit of a dilemma. Thankfully, they chose to delay the game from the scheduled 2006 release, to a 2007 release so that they could tweak it like they did with the original. When they let the community know that the expansion was gonna be delayed, there were a surge of posts all over the internet with angry World of Warcrack (including myself) addicts who were too impatient, and couldn’t wait for the game. When the game finally released however, any WoW player would agree that it was worth the wait. All those nights we spent outside the Dark Portal in Azeroth, wondering what adventures lay beyond it had finally paid off.
