Streets of Mumbai Interview
By: Avinash Bali   |   Apr 15, 2008

So why don’t you give us the lowdown on the game's progression? Will it be like a NFS game where I get instructions via a cellphone, or will it be like Burnout Paradise where I can go and do whatever I feel like?
It'll be more like NFS where you get instructions, but you can go into the Free Roaming mode when you feel like it. However, you cannot initiate a race from that mode. If you want to race you would have to come back to the main menu, select a track, your car, your opponents (if you’re playing SP) and then race. If you get bored with the preset tracks you can download more of them from the game’s official website.

And these would be free?
Some of them would be free, but we will also be releasing premium tracks and custom cars for which the consumer might have to pay.

How much?
Don’t worry; these would be very nominal amounts, ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 35 per track or car.

Can players buy certain upgrades with real money, or will it all be in game money?
For this release it's all in game money.

What kind of upgrades can we expect in SoM?
You can deck out your wheels, rims, engine, brakes, suspension etc.

What kind of tunes can we look forward to in this game?
Modern rock and hip-hop with a little bit of new-age electronic, but the consumer will also have the option to listen to his/her own music library stored on the PC.

Have you guys tied up with any of the local radio stations for this game?
We are in talks with a few of them but nothing’s been finalized yet.

What platforms can we expect Streets of Mumbai on?
As of now Streets of Mumbai is PC-exclusive, but we will be releasing this game on the PS2 in the next six months with all-new engine upgrades.

So when can we expect to see this game on the shelves?
May-end or early June 2008, for anything between Rs 199 and Rs 299. We are in talks with distributors and will update you once we finalize the price tag.

What's next for Trine after SoM?
We are working on two new IPs for both PCs and consoles, backed by international publishers, and these games are targeted for a global release, and not just for India.

Update: We just got word on the minimum specs required to run the game and they go something like this:

P4 2.4 GHZ
512 MB Ram
256MB Graphic Card
DirectX supported sound card
1.5 GB free Hard-Disk Space

hey, is this game multiplatform?
Vipul @ Apr 18, 2008
Jay Cena ,no one has said it would be like Crysis...f***n fool.Everyone knows that India doesn't have good game developers but INDIA will "WHOOP THE ASSES OF ALL THE COUNTRIES IN ANIMATION"."IT HAS 98 BILLION DOLLAR ANIMATION INDUSTRY".So just lemme know which country do u belong to and tell me how long is ur country going to make a game like Crysis SHITHOLE(That's you)!!
Indian @ Apr 17, 2008
Jay CENA,

Where do they say that this game would be like CRYSIS..? I think its a cool idea on developing a game based on Indian cities. I know a guy who works at the studio, he told me that these screen shots are from the development build. In the final version there will be people sleeping on the foot paths, dogs running after your car, construction happening in middle of the road etc..

Best of Luck to you guys.. Rock on...
Sums @ Apr 17, 2008
First of all this game is a crap. Even the title is not appealing.
Second,i do not agree that this game will have sys req, comparable to CRYSIS. Well folks,Indian Game Studios are not developed enough to make a game that could stand in front of CRYSIS.
It will take years to make a game like that.
Plz don't insult CRYSIS by taking the name of Streets Of Mumbai in front of CRYSIS.
Jay CENA @ Apr 17, 2008
Why there are no POTHOLES and TRAFFIC in the screenshots???
Jimmy @ Apr 16, 2008
I've been waiting for u guys to get info on this game. I saw this game once on NDTV. Looking forward to this one. But textures look a bt..not good.

@Mumboy..dont forget the Brake Lights. They're the same in every pic.

Will there be a story mode or something?
Praveen @ Apr 16, 2008
The screeenshots look good, but funny that all the screenshots have same HUD figures (120kmph speed, 3rd position and exact time in all screen shots).
Mumboy @ Apr 16, 2008
I NEED THIS GAME RITE NOW!!! RIGHT F*KING NOW!!!!
ORB @ Apr 15, 2008
if its not got pot holes and dugg roads ... its not my bombay
Manan @ Apr 15, 2008
streets of mumbai..U mean riding without any accident in a jam packed roads and people crossing roads without obeying signal/rules...OR hitting someone in the midnight and run carelessly might add some points..seems to be interesting
Karthik @ Apr 15, 2008
the idea of free roam on Indian roads is cool
but i feel that the feature of organising races on our own inviting other places from the internet through an attractive prize money wud be gud
it wud be unique in its own way
varun raj @ Apr 15, 2008
PC hardware requirements ... it will look totally crap and will have specs comparable to Crysis... :)
zach @ Apr 15, 2008
will be a damn koool game
pls mention da pc hardware requirements also
