Sony to offer downloadable content for the PS3
Not to be outdone by Microsoft’s Xbox Live, Sony is planning to offers gamers a plethora of content via their online service (as and when it launches). According to Ken Kutaragi, President of Sony, the PS3 will be capable of emulating games for older systems like the Mega Drive and you can also expect downloads of arcade titles, similar to those of Xbox Live Arcade. In addition to this, players may be able to download PSone and PS2 games as well.
Metal Gear Solid 4 update
Hideo Kojima and his team of merry developers were present at TGS 2006 and they spilled the beans on a whole lot of stuff regarding Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP).
Now as far as Portable Ops goes, it’s the first time gamers will actually be able to play a real MGS game on the PSP, unlike Metal Gear Acid, which was more of a card game. Portable Ops will release in December in Japan and will ship with two limited edition PSP packages; one of which will be made with really python skin (Impressive!)

When it came to MGS 4 Kojima gave us the lowdown on what all was going on in the trailer. The new suit donned by Snake throughout the game is called the 'Octo-Cam', derived from the words Octopus and Camouflage and when activated will turn into the color of nearby environments, camouflaging Snake completely. As far as the game’s OST goes, it’ll be composed by none other than Harry Gregson-Williams, the same composer who provided tunes for the previous two MGS games. MGS’s intro was pretty interactive as it allowed you to control certain aspects on-screen, but according to Kojima MGS’s 4 into will blow that out of the water (we can’t wait to be blown, I say)
