Burnout Revenge (2005)
Released just a year later, Burnout Revenge (my personal favorite of the lot by the way) took the series to the next level improving on a whole lot of things like visuals, speed, gameplay and the ability to check traffic which basically meant hitting traffic traveling in the same direction as you… trucks, buses and semis not included. Unfortunately the game’s Crash mode wasn’t as enjoyable as previous versions since players were forced to play a boring mini game if they craved a perfect start (thankfully this was axed for the Xbox360 version). This game was by far the fastest racer on the console at the time and after a hard day’s work, it was the perfect stress buster allowing you to decimate anything and everything in your path.
Burnout Revenge [Xbox360] (2006)
With Burnout Revenge, Criterion gave Xbox 360 owners their very first taste of high definition car carnage. Full Auto, which was released around the same couldn’t hold a candle near this visceral and high octane and not to mention drop dead gorgeous racer. With the leap to HD, every crash, every single takedown was brought to life in gorgeous High Definition making it a must buy for newcomers, graphic whores as well as fans of the series. In addition to improved visuals they even added a ten new tracks for Crash mode, better online functionality, a much needed replay feature and they even axed the crappy mini game that plagued Revenge.
