The holiday season is nearly upon us and unless you’re born with multiple silver spoons sticking out of your mouth (or any other orifice for that matter), I suggest you start saving up with a vengeance... what with tons of high-profile games releasing shortly. And kicking off the festivities are the games of September 2008!
Axing total punch control (Fight Night series) in favor of simple button-mashing, Facebreaker is a cartoony beat-'em-up sprinkled with wacky characters and copious amounts of humor. The first web review of this game wasn’t all that favorable (in fact IGN pretty much thrashed it, giving it a meager 5/10) but before you condemn it and burn it on a stake we suggest you try out the demo that’s floating around on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
We played it. We loved it. Head right here to know why you should consider buying it.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is like Grand Theft Auto, only with a lot more destruction. You can explore Venezuela at your own pace, blow up nearly anything and everything (oil rigs included) and indulge in side quests to earn some extra moolah. There’s a wafer-thin plot in there somewhere that's complemented by cheesy dialogs and stereotypical badasses, but none of that should matter to you as long as you can level an entire city block with a carpet bomb air strike.
