The 5 Kings of Stealth
By: Nikhil Singh   |   Dec 08, 2006

The shadow is their kingdom
Anonymity’s in their veins
If you catch a glimpse of them
In an instant you'll be slain!

The perfect execution of stealth in a game can enhance your standard First-person shooter or Third-person action game to a more engrossing, atmospheric "experience". The constant fear of being detected gets you to a point at the edge of your seat, where even the best horror movies/games can't take you. In the process, you grow more in-tune with the game's surroundings, and fill the boots of the game's protagonists like they're your own, taking gaming to a new level. Here's a little about a few such protagonists, who have made us fall in love with the word "Stealth" ...

garrett.jpgThief – Garrett
Weapon of Choice: Blackjack, a bow and water arrows

The master thief, the father of Stealth, call him what you may, Garrett was one that introduced most of us to the shadowy world of Stealth. With steps no louder than whispers, and hands as swift as the wind, Garrett can get in and out of any place without alerting a soul. His fingers are nimble enough to open delicate locks, yet strong enough to yield his heavy Blackjack, which forms the perfect balance for a thief that hold his own in battle. Apart from a bow and a million different kinds of arrows, his most powerful weapon is his wit, which keeps him alive (and keeps you entertained) while he prances amidst his foes. He has an eye for precious things (which he must keep for himself), which consequently gets him into all kinds of trouble with the forces at work. But somehow, good ol' Garrett always weaves his way out pretty much unharmed, and a few gold coins richer at the end of the day.
