Step 4: Don’t trip on them Cables
To connect your Xbox 360 to the Monitor, you’ll need an Xbox 360 VGA cable, which costs somewhere between Rs. 1500 to 2000. Microsoft doesn’t market these in India unfortunately, so there’s no way you can get this from an official dealer. The Xbox 360 VGA cable is the hardest to find in the market, on this list, and you’re gonna go through a lot of pain if you hunt for it in shops around you. Your best bet is to order it off eBay or sites like Play-Asia.com. If you’re skeptical about ordering online, you can always head over to any PC/Console peripheral market such as Lamington Road in Mumbai, or Palika Bazaar in Delhi, and look for either the original Microsoft VGA cable, or one of the cheap copies. The copies cost about Rs. 500 and the output quality difference between the original ones and these is barely noticeable.
Once you get your VGA cable, you’re gonna need an RCA to female stereo cable converter. Too complicated? No worries; it’s very easy to get these – just head over to the nearest hardware dealer and tell him what I just told you, he should give you exactly what you need, and it shouldn’t cost more than Rs. 100. Take your VGA cable with you as insurance, so that you know that he knows what you’re talking about.
Here's a list with prices, of all the stuff you need to hook yourself up with some next-gen gaming:
| Item Name | Damage Caused |
| Xbox 360 Core Unit | Rs. 20,000 |
| Xbox Memory Card | Rs. 2,000 |
| Viewsonic VG2230WM | Rs. 23,000 |
| Creative SBS 370 | Rs. 1,150 |
| Sound Cable Converters | Rs. 100 |
| Xbox 360 VGA Cables | Rs. 2,000 |
Before I end this article, let me tell you that although it might look like it, we haven’t been bribed by Microsoft. In fact, the configuration I’ve just told you about is exactly what a lot of us in the Tech2 team use, so we can ensure that it rocks first hand. As and when the PS3 launches, we shall provide you with a similar article for the PS3; maybe not an article to help you get a cheap setup (since the PS3 is kinda steeply priced), but something along the same lines.
