Let’s face it, Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP) hasn’t been as well received as Sony woulad have expected. Gamers continue to feel that it lacked the punch—handhelds like the Nintendo DS packed. Besides the expensive factor, one of the primary reasons people never took to the PSP was the lackluster library of games—let’s hope this article changes some of that sentiment…
Based on the 70’s cult flick of the same name, The Warriors for the PS2 and the Xbox was developer Rockstar’s first foray into the world of beat 'em ups and put players in the boots of an unknown member of a street gang called The Warriors, as they went around NYC trying to clear their name of murder. Now even though it was no Def Jam Fight for New York, the game packed an extremely robust and sturdy combat system that allowed you to brutally thrash your opponents with your bare fists, legs, weapons and certain elements from the environment. As of now, we don’t have a lot on the PSP port when it comes to story or gameplay, but if beat ‘em ups are your thing and you’ve had your share of Tekken: Dark Resurrection, this is one game you may wanna look out for.
Unlike Metal Gear Acid, which was actually a cel-shaded turn based strategy game—Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops will be a full fledged action game that’ll take place nearly six years after the events of Snake Eater. Portable Ops will sport a multitude of multiplayer modes like deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture and team capture modes. In addition to this, the game will also allow you to recruit and control your very own army; a first for any game in this series.
Total Overdose was a very simple yet entertaining game that never took itself seriously. The premise of this game was simple; give players lots and lots of weapons, a boatload of enemies, a gazillion hours of bullet time and allow them to pull off a bunch of spicy moves. Not GOTY material, but it worked. The reason I gave you the heads up on Total Overdose is because Chilli Con Carnage is somewhat of a port of that very same game and will be pretty similar to its elder brother as far as story and gameplay is concerned. New to the PSP version is the addition of some sort of Multi Player modes.
