Last week, the part I of this two-part feature got a rather good response from readers, which makes it certain that even though Nintendo refuses to officially be present in India, there are plenty of gamers who would go to any means to get their gaming fix. But your DS collection is incomplete without these games that practically define the system. So here it is – our top ten recommended games for the Nintendo DS.

Picross DS

How can something so simple be so damn addictive?! Picross is nothing but a pixel board where you shade pictures according to the indicated numbers to form the end image. It's not as easy as it sounds as the numbers that indicate the areas to be shaded can get quite tricky.

It's a great game of logic and highly addictive. The good part is there are lots of puzzles here to keep you busy for a long time, which is what brings it into our top 10 list.

Bleach: The Blade of Fate

Really, how many good DS fighting games can you think of? (The keyword is 'good'). But Bleach doesn't feature in this list by a default or because of its franchising. It's here because the game is hands-down the best fighter on the DS, and a bloody good game overall. It may initially come as a shock that the game is entirely in 2D, but a couple of matches into the game and the advantages of a spite-based fighter over a 3D one clearly stands out.

This game is not only recommended for fans of the action anime series, but also to fighting game fans who have been looking for a decent brawler on the DS. Trust us, this game is BANKAI!

Dementium: The Ward

This one's for all who insist that the DS is a kiddy console. This mature-rated horror-fest makes good use of the first-person controls pioneered by Metroid Prime Hunters (check next page), to give you a game that will make horror-fans scream with joy.

Sure, it uses some cheap scare tactics – for instance, it doesn't allow you to wield a flashlight and a gun at the same time – but the end result is so worth it. This is the game you play at night with the lights off and a pair of headphones on.
