MX 760
Rating: ****
This one’s truly dashing! The cable is much shorter, and is meant for use with mobile phones and devices that use remote controls. However, a one-meter extension cable has been included if you should ever need it.
These earphones make use of Sennheiser’s 'Basswind' system, the technicalities of which eludes me! I CAN tell you, however, that the lows are quite responsive, and those MX 360 harmonics are missing. The sound clarity is quite uniform, as is the case with most Sennheiser products. The 3.5mm plug is gold plated, and the package includes a leather carry case, along with a cable winder. What it didn’t come with, however, were spare earbuds. Surprising! It costs Rs 1,890.

This one too makes use of the 'Basswind' system, but there’s little about it to get worked up about. It too comes with a 2-year warranty, a cable winder, and an extra pair of earbuds.
The sound is good, but doesn't come anywhere close to the MX 760. The sound is evenly spread, which you will like if you are a jazz aficionado. You can even hear slight hisses or the tinkle of cymbals – these aren’t easy to reproduce well. This piece costs Rs 1,290.
Truly, Sennheiser is on a roll. From no presence at all in the market, to overloading it with tons of earphone options, the company clearly thinks it's time to sit up and get noticed!
