"It took me a year or so to make the mini-theater. I had faced a lot of obstacles; many times the work had to be stopped for more than three weeks for various reasons. If all had gone well, the theater would have been ready in about three months.

"During the build I observed that many of the craftsmen were out to make a quick buck; some didn't even have the required knowledge. They were supposed to be professionals in making a theater, but I had to identify and fix many errors with their work."

I'm sure you must all be itching to ask the question. Yes, Grover gave me a ballpark figure of how much the exercise cost him: slightly above Rs 20 lakh. Well, what can I say... if you have the money, why not?

Hey SK,

I built my own LCD projector using tutorials and the helpful community at lumenlab.com. I am simply using Creative 5.1 speakers connected to my DVD player's 5.1 output. I could have spent a few grands more and taken a decoder, but I don't feel a pressing need for it right now.

well put together stuff. Just shows your passion for HTs. But i was wondering, wheres HD? I mean, spending 20 big ones and still having no HD support is what i couldnt understand. Anyways, enjoy the wonderful experience....

I m really proud to tell you all that i have seen this Home Theatre personally n i must say that its an excellent excellent place to watch movies......even better then a theatre..............n let me tell u 1 more fact tat this home theatre is not designed by an Architect........Its Vinays own work and his own thoughts......Gr8 work Vinay keep it up!!!!!!!!

Hi Grover,
One comments that I saw in your video.
When you drop down your " Dalite" screen your speakers are comming in the way of your screen.
Did you manage to sort this out???
Otherwise use the " keystone" to correct your screen size.

Hi,
I just got a 7.5' X 12' room that I worked on with Priyesh patel of La Kozy of Mumbai and his advise is just awesome.
Get a feel what a PSB Alpha Bi speaker system and Denon 1708 with a Optomia HD 70 can do to your home theater.
Need help on acoustics control.
I got about 875 DVD's to stack.
Any recomendations????

Ninad, what is a self built LCD projector, which 5.1 surround sound system do u hav?
mine is a simple HTPC. 22" Dell LCD moniter. 2 sets of ATP3 speakers. 2 sets of creative 2.0 minis on a 3.0 ghz 2GB Ram 2x250GB HDD 2x16XDVD writers. and i enjoy Titanics, Kingkong, Zurassics and Terminators a lot on this setup.

Way too much is being spent in the name of entertainment. Fact is the money that needs to be spent to create this monstrous setup will take some time to earn, so rather than spend that time in a thankless job, take a hike around the country, and save yourself and the planet.

Nice setup, but where are the seats? I would expect to have seating for at least half a dozen people to make it worth. I could see only 1 big chair in this one. I have a plain jane home theatre, with a self built LCD projector, and 5.1 surround sound. I get a 12 feet diagonal 16:9 picture projected on a white wall, and seems fine, though not totally theatre-like. I will be replacing with a DLP projector soon, and a screen whose fabric is already bought. But, my theatre cost me only Rs. 50k three years back. So those of you with smaller wallets, don't lose hope. And my living room converted to theatre at nights seats about 15 people!

Wow, This Feature is awesome :D I myself have a whole full-size room dedicated for my HT. but the thing about it is that, its made in a completely CUSTOM way, so that the whole thing is cost effective (read: Without using Hyper expensive brands and ready made speaker setup)

Grover's setup looks awesome!
And even when We were building our Hometheater,we had to stay there and tell everything that had to be done. Even some of the internal/concealed wiring was done by me and my bro.

Making your home theatre, be it flashy or not, is a very enjoyable experience, which gives a very warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

Oh Man ! What an ecstasy..its just a different world around light, camera, audio and action. Wollah ! I wish for the following..a job that can give me enough money to build one like this and the same job giving me ample time to sit here and watch the movies..

lights are too bright. speakers should ideally be out of sight (when lights are dimmed). Doesn't matter how much you love them or spent on them. you could have done a lot better than bose the money you spent. all said and done, good job.

I think a any modern HT system should include a Blu Ray player which it doesnt!
