This is one of the oldest and among the easiest software to use: just download and install. Older versions such as V2.62 were standalone consoles, but the latest version is a Winamp plugin.
What you essentially need is Winamp. Once Streamripper is installed, go to Preferences > Plug-ins > General Purpose, click on "Streamripper For Winamp", and then click on "Configure selected plug-in". Play the stream you like in Winamp and click Start.
You can get the stream from Media library > Internet radio or directly from shoutcast.com. Streamripper will appear beside the running instance of Winamp. On the top of Streamripper you will notice it says something like "Press start to rip http://something:port". Simple!
Streamripper only knows how to rip MP3, OGG, AAC and NSV formats, and nothing else. If it is an unrecognized stream, Streamripper indicates that "Winamp is not listening to a stream"!
If you don't have a fat pipe (cable modem/dsl, T1, etc.) you'll want to use Streamripper's "relay server". This allows you to listen to the same stream you are ripping without using extra bandwidth. Without the relay server, Streamripper will make a second connection to the stream, effectively doubling your bandwidth usage.
To listen through Streamripper's relay function, click on the box labeled "Create Relay" under Options. Streamripper will add an entry to your playlist. Double-click on that playlist entry to listen through the relay. You can select where you want to save all the content by clicking on Options and File.
Streamripper will cut the songs automatically and even get the ID tags so you don't have to split files and name them. Cool, huh?
