Top Three Ultraportable Laptops
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Jul 31, 2008

Over the past year, the ultraportable laptop market has emerged as the segment to watch out for, as power users and enthusiasts seek that perfect balance between performance and portability – at reasonable rates. It’s therefore not surprising that most vendors have been steadily churning out new releases in this fast-growing segment. Here's our selection of three current hot favorites.

Acer Aspire 2920

This ultraportable from Acer is an incredibly astonishing machine. At its starting price of Rs 38,500, it’s tough to imagine it offering any kind of decent performance and storage. But Acer has managed that quite effectively. For starters, the 2920 comes with a 12.1 inch LCD panel with a native resolution of 1280 x 800, has an Intel C2D processor (T5450), 2GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD.

It utilizes the X3100 Intel GMA chipset for its graphics and has a dual-layer DVD-RW. It offers three USB ports, an Express card slot, a microphone-in jack, a headphone-out jack, a VGA port, an RJ-11 modem jack, and an Ethernet slot. In its wireless connectivity options, the laptop supports Bluetooth 2.0 EDR and Wi-Fi.

These specifications alone make the 2920 an effortless multitasker, and when you combine it with its low entry price, you get a perfect entry-level ultraportable laptop that does not skimp on features.

no AMD TURION ultra X2 with 780g chipset for reviews............i think it will be better than intel IGP based solution. Also what normal people need will be more HDD space...lots of ram(vista, browsing net...so)...and a better IGP.......as far as i have concerned...processing power is not of much important for normal usage.....most people use laptop in these range for office use and teenagers use for watching movies(HD 1080p)..playing..also battery life to a certain extend.Dont you think TECH2 people....am i wright....
