Multiple Uses for Camera
If you're thinking I’d suggest you record some candid moments between you and your significant other and upload them to the Internet, think again. My suggestions are (as always) more virtuous.

Use One: You know how some people have a knack of being called Amit or Sameer or Salil? At any given point, if you are social enough, you will find at least two of each in your contacts. This creates confusion. Obviously, you can use some established naming conventions (Such as Amit2 or Henry VIII) , but that’s passé.

You can simply use your camera to click a picture of the person and save it to his/her contact entry. Most new camera phones allow this. Those who don’t have this option will have to buy a new phone.

Use Two (for metrosexuals mainly): If you feel carrying a compact mirror is too narcissistic, remember that most new 3G phones have a front VGA camera (above the screen), which works just like a mirror. Just take a quick pic of yourself and do the necessary adjustments.

Multiple Uses for Camera Flash
The flash has today become more than "a device used in photography that produces an instantaneous flash of artificial light (typically around 1/1000 to 1/200 of a second) at a color temperature of about 5500K to help illuminate a scene". (Thanks to Wikipedia.)

Use One: Instead of just using the flash while clicking pictures, you can also bring it out on those odd situations when you find yourself stuck in the middle of the jungle, or, more ordinarily, in the lightless confinement of your house during a power outage. While most flashes these days are really meant to light up the dark, they certainly aren't a replacement for tube lights!

Use Two: You can use the flash from your phone to generate effects while clicking arty pictures, especially in the dark. Try positioning your subject, and then use a couple of phone flashes to light up things.

Dumb article.
Amit2 @ Jul 11, 2008
This is a real bad article. This does not match the standards of Tect2.com, I usually read tech2 articles and it given me some information but this one is hopeless.....I am actually feeling frustrated that I read the article expecting that I will encounter something useful
Amit @ Jul 01, 2008
There is one more use of Camera Mobiles.
You can use it for checking whether your remote is working fine or not. Here is the way:-
Start your mobile in camera mode, Place Remote Control in front of Camera lens, so that you can see Remote's IR Sensor from your mobile in the picture.Don't take a picture, instead click the remote's button which you think is not working properly, if red light(IR Light) or wave is showing on the camera picture mode, that means it's ok.Otherwise your remote has dead battery or damaged buttons.
Jaswinder Singh @ Jun 20, 2008
Another one Laiq

When in dire need of saving a House no. or a Token no. , a Train no. or a Flight no. , a Seat no. or even a Phone no. and you are in too much of a hurry to save it to its rightful place....
Just punch in the number and hit the call button.
Immediately cancel the call.
Doing that you have stored the number in your last dialed calls memory for some time.
Tarun @ Jun 17, 2008
Manfred, your comments demonstrate your inability to see criticism in the right sense. The author had either intended this article to be taken utterly frivolously or perhaps he actually thought he was giving useful advice. Assuming it was the latter, people have responded to the article. The fact that spade is called a spade is an evidence of freedom of expression being alive in India, and not of India being a third-world country. But, on second thoughts, I understand the crux of your post. What you meant was people like moi should have not even responded to the article and should have instead left the entire space for eminent readers such as yourself. A valid point, indeed, the article is indeed meant for readers like you. I sincerely apologize for obstructing your learning process.
Jaideep Dave @ Jun 14, 2008
you dudes are seriously jobless. why do all the frigging slackers end up reviewing gadgets?
chandan @ Jun 14, 2008
There is battery recovery But only for Nokia Models
Saandeep @ Jun 13, 2008
Kintan... i know 2 of those things tht dont work here:

The FOURTH point: Dosnt work in India... theres NO way u can get ur cellphone locked by providing ur IMIE number....THIS FACILITY IS NOT AVAILABE IN INDIA...

Your THRID point : Theres no freakin Hidden battery power.... its just a rumor.
Joel @ Jun 12, 2008
And Finally....

FIFTH
Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.
Kintan @ Jun 12, 2008
FOURTH
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it
somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that w hoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
Kintan @ Jun 12, 2008
THIRD
Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserv e and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you
charge your cell phone next time.
Kintan @ Jun 12, 2008
SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on
their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object.. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.
Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST
Emergency

The Emergency N umber worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find
Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an
Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112
can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.
Kintan @ Jun 12, 2008
Hey Manfred,
Oh yea... its when we diss a poor article, we will always remain backward... a 3rd world nation. Just sit back and read whatever is written and praise the writers to GLORY.
Come on .. a lill criticism didnt hurt anyone, every1 here wasnt happy with this one. Dont say anythign bout it... n there aint gonna be any improvements in the comming articles by the writer.
This has nothing to do with India growing and stuff....in fact if we just sit back, and dont make a noise.... we will remian backwards.... FEED our MIND tech2.....
Joel @ Jun 12, 2008
lol tech2 going the techtree way, Kudos :P
Joel @ Jun 12, 2008
i read all the comments and I must admit that you guys are obviously nincompoops. If you don't like what's been written then piss off. Its simple.! But no! This country will always be a third world becoz of illiterates like you. Its like the kind of noise (riots actually) stupid people of the state made in Bangalore when famous actor Kumar died. Incinerating things that dont even deserve that much attention is a typical characteristic of us Indians. Look at the comments. How about devoting THAT much time saving life, or something really worth it. LOSERS!!! Its people like you who prevent India from growing. Keep it up, and let others from outside have a good laugh at us. THAT's what we deserve...!! Bloody APES!!!
manfred @ Jun 12, 2008
Incredibly retarded! The title should be changed to 'Moron's guide to Mobile Tweaking'. If indeed, you wanna cater to rural boors and stone-age cretins, why not even explain how to make a phone-call. Something along the lines of: First find out the phone number of your friend. Remember, it will be of 10 digits. Then, give him a call, find out your own number. Bravo! Now, you are all set to catch up with 21st century technology age and communicate to distant friends and relatives, all thanks to, guess what, tech2.com. Trust me, that will help more chaps than this desperate, idiotic piece of feature writing.
Jaideep Dave @ Jun 12, 2008
shame On tech2.
Man is this a site for babies?
These arent tricks, these are things which even a dummy would find mundane.
You guys are starting to suck these days.
A V @ Jun 12, 2008
This is one of your site's stupidest article I have read. The title should have read 'an stupid's guide to mobile tweaks'. The pranks described qualifies for a 3rd grade guide to playing prank to a stupid person only.
JP Sinhq @ Jun 11, 2008
Learn from Rajiv Makhni of NDTV.......
Vaibhav @ Jun 11, 2008
Mr Laiq,
If that is what u said, then the article title should have read, "The Rural Guide to Mobile Tweaking". :P So when are u commin up with the "Advanced guide to ....." looking forward to that... Redeem urself... QUICK ;)
Joel @ Jun 11, 2008
Just when i thought that this article is the worst thing the writer cud have came up with....Surprise...Surprise... he tops it by writing an utterly nonsensical justification for writing it...
Grow up Dude...
Aditya @ Jun 11, 2008
I must say the standards of this site are really going down. I used to log on to this site everyday to check the latest in gizmos and to read the reviews. Sadly the number of interesting articles are not longer present. Its like the owners of the site have lost interest. To put up some thing as stupid as this on your site just shows the levels the site has reached. Generally people who visit your site are advanced users looking for further insight to new products ect. Even for the newest camera user this would be utter crap. Sad to see something as good start to see this kind of decline. Its been some time since I have seen something interesting on your site.
Rohit @ Jun 11, 2008
Hi Mr Laiq,
I read the comments and your reply to it. My humble submission - while I totally agree to your point of rural india not being aware of simple mobile facts and facets, I wonder how many of rural indians would be accessing internet and a website like tech2 to read your article and get initiated to the points you have highlighted. The latest juxtconsult report on internet puts 80% regular online Indians to be coming from A-B class cities, so you are bound to get a knee-jerk reaction from the readers!
I belv the channel you have chosen to elucidate basic mobile facts is incorrect. One - internet and two - a very tech savvy and niche site like tech2.com. The readers will have high expectations, because the profile visiting this site would be more discerning.
Sj @ Jun 11, 2008
The title says "Beginner's Guide to....". I think that justifies it all. Obviously, many here who have taken the liberty to write such brilliant comments come from A - B class cities, so obviously its easy to write trash from your high-rise ivory towers.

Mobile phone penetration goes far beyond that, and in my interaction with people from various rural places (i do get a lot of such queries from these guys) plus MANY here from the cities, this story is mainly for those who know nothing about cell phones. Your parents are probably one of them. So there!

Anyway, with all the trouble you guys have taken, how about writing something more about what one can do with a mobile phone. THAT would be really worth it!!
Laiq @ Jun 11, 2008
I dont understand why i wasted 7 mins in reading this article ??? cant expect this from you atleast
sk @ Jun 11, 2008
Crap alert
jason @ Jun 11, 2008
I think now tech2 peoples are too much (bella) free. or you can say they are not having any work. thats why for pass time they are just keep on writing useless stuff like this.
its shame that tech2 level is now droped that much.
please contact me i can give you better ideas than this to pass your time.
kks @ Jun 11, 2008
WTF is this? Mr. Quireshi, this article has stuff that my 8 yr old brother knows. he knows a hell lot more than this. What kind of an article is this?
