Guide To Buying A Music Phone
By: Shayne Rana   |   Aug 09, 2007
Music is a part of our daily lives. It expresses emotions and feelings and I don’t think there’s a single emotion we could feel for which someone hasn’t written a song for. It’s rather obvious in this case with the rise of the MTV generation the portability of music is a must. We have mp3 players and mobile phones but hey, I’d take a mobile phone with an mp3 player any day. This limits the amount of gadgets you’ll need to carry around with you. It’s really comfortable to have just one device that allows you to make calls, send messages, capture images and the most importantly listen to your music.

Having a music player in your mobile phone is nothing new. Every second mobile phone, these days will have one. But each player is not the same with regard to various factors. If you’re going to get one,  with today’s MTV generation being at its peak, you’re going to have to go with something that not just sounds good but looks and feels good too. So here are a few tips to assist you in selecting the perfect MP3 phone.

Earphones
Most importantly you’d need to make sure that the earphones that are provided with the phone are comfortable. First off while selecting a phone, make it a point to check and see what kind of earphone socket the phone has. Essentially there are 3 types – Propriety wherein you cannot use any other earphones except the one’s ‘prescribed’ by that phone’s manufacturer. If something goes wrong with the ones you got in the box or you aren’t comfortable with them, I have just two words for you - you’re screwed. The other types are 2.5mm sockets which may just as well be propriety as there aren’t many other devices or earphones that are sold separately that have that sized pin. Finally the 3.5mm socket, which is universal to most media players and you’re guaranteed to find them anywhere. So in case you have a problem with the pair bundled with the phone you can use your own. You should also check if the phone supports Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP compatibility so you can use a wireless Bluetooth headset and so away with the wires altogether.

The type of earphones also matter when it comes to the overall output and sound quality. If you happen to have an expensive set of earphones like a Sennhesier or Bose, you know their reputation for quality is top of the list so why not have the option of using them? So obviously you will enjoy the experience a whole lot more. Sometimes you may just want to use your own set of earphones that just make you feel more comfortable.
