Mogul Kahn – The Axe
Primary Attribute: Strength
Primary Role: Hero Killer/Lane Pusher/Tank
Introduction:
The Axe is one of the most ferocious heroes in melee combat. He can rip enemy heroes apart with his Counter Helix, and can finish off any weak heroes with his Culling Blade. The play-style of this hero is very different from others, where it doesn’t involve you attacking them manually, instead it requires them to attack you, so that you can rip them apart with your axe.
The Good:
One of the best tanks around
Has a great ultimate
Awesome early-mid game hero killer
Decent stat growth
The Bad:
No Stunning spell
Crappy mana pool
Here’s a little about his spells:
Berserkers Call (Mana Cost – 80/90/100/110 / Cooldown – 15 Secs.)
Description: Mogul Kahn makes all the enemy units/heroes within 275 range, focus their attacks on him. The duration of this effect increases with spell level in this order 1.5 Secs/2 Secs/2.5 Secs/3 Secs giving him additional armor for that period.
This skill is the only disable Mogul Kahn has (and it’s a darn good one). Any heroes that come in its effective radius are forced to focus their attacks on him, stopping their channeling spells, and restricting them from casting spells that don’t cast instantly. This spell has perfect synergy with Counter helix, as he tends to spin more often when being attacked by more units. Just sneak up on a hero, cast this spell, and when his health is low, use Culling Blade to finish him off.
Battle Hunger (Mana Cost – 105/115/125/135 / Cooldown – 25 Secs.)
Description: This is a DoT (Damage over time) spell, which inflicts massive amounts of damage on your enemy till either the spell’s duration runs out, or he gets the killing blow on a creep.
This spell is a nice addition to your arsenal, since it allows you to slaughter heroes that have a trouble killing creeps. It is a very good harassment spell against low HP heroes, but be sure to cast it only after it’s at least level 3. I do not take this skill in the beginning of my build as it does not go too well with Counter Helix or any other spell that Kahn has.
Counter Helix (Mana Cost – N/A / Cooldown – N/A)
Description: When Mogul Kahn is attacked, he has a 15% chance of spinning in a violent counter attack, and attacking all enemy units/heroes around him. This doesn’t effect buildings.
This skill is one of the best Mogul Kahn has to offer. Coupled with Berserker’s Call, you can force low HP heroes to attack you and take them out within seconds. If a hero ever comes near your tower, get close to him and cast this spell, and watch him die within seconds. The damage increases with the level of the skill in this order – 100, 125, 150, to 175.
Culling Blade (Mana Cost - 120 140 160 / Cooldown – 90 Sec.)
Description: Dishes out a moderate amount of damage to heroes, but if they’re on low health, it kills them instantly. Insta-kills on 300 HP, 450 HP, 625 HP as per lvl.
This skill is amazing, it allows you to get some easy kills in the beginning, as it’s not that hard to get a hero down to 300 HP at level 6, after which you just need to get in range to cast this spell. Beware of the range that’s required to cast this spell, since it’s not as large as it should be, and if you don’t heed my warning, you might just end up getting stunned and owned near an enemy tower.
Here’s my skill build:
Level 1 - Counter Helix lvl 1
Level 2 - Berserkers Call lvl 1
Level 3 - Counter Helix lvl 2
Level 4 - Berserkers Call lvl 2
Level 5 - Counter Helix lvl 3
Level 6 – Culling Blade
Level 7 - Counter Helix lvl 4
Level 8 - Berserkers Call lvl 3
Level 9 - Berserkers Call lvl 4
Level 10 - Battle Hunger lvl 1
Level 11 - Culling Blade
Level 12 - Battle Hunger lvl 2
Early Game:
Items you should buy:

The first item you should buy, is a Ring of health. There are times when you start off with less that 700 Gold, in such cases just buy a Stout shield and an Ancient Tango of Essifation. Farm enough to buy a Vitality booster along with the Ring of Health as soon as possible, so that you complete your Vanguard. Incase you do have spare cash, buy a pair of Boots of Speed too. If the hero in your lane gets anywhere near you, cast Berserkers Call and watch him get to low HP real quick. The best part of this spell is that it can even cast while you’re stunned or hexed. If the enemy hero ever goes back, get in front of you creeps and try and get the enemy creeps to attack you. When they do, Counter Helix will begin to kick in a lot and allow you to slay the creeps real fast. Mana might be a problem for you, so make sure that you don’t spam your skills too much.
Mid Game:
Items you should buy:

Your goal in this stage is to push lanes hard and to gank heroes. If there are a lot of damaging spell casters in the enemy team, buy yourself a Planewalkers Cloak, which you can convert into an Aegis later. If your mana problems get frustrating, you should buy yourself an Empty Bottle to help you heal and regenerate mana after battles, and before them. But, your first priority should be to farm for Boots of Travel, that’ll allow you to farm like mad; whenever you see a huge creep push, get there quickly and start tanking them. Once those items are ready, you should buy a Messerschmidts Reaver to boost your HP.
Late Game:
Items you should buy:

If your enemy team has more spell damage, you should opt for an Aegis of immortal, and if they have more physical type damage, collect for a Heart of Tarrasque. Your role at this stage, is that of a tank, where you need to be the guy on the frontlines in a team battle and take as much abuse as you can. Your ultimate kills anyone below 625 HP, so keep an eye out for any low HP intelligence or agility heroes. If you find your mobility restricted, get yourself a Dagger of Escape to help you kill stray heroes, and to get out of sticky situations.
