Darkterror – The Faceless Void
Primary Attribute: Agility
Primary Role: Hero Killer/ Damage Dealer
Introduction:
Don’t be fooled by his squishy, mosquito-like head and scrawny body, this hero is a real terror (hence the name). He has the scariest passive stun in the game, that does additional damage when it casts, and this will keep your foes stuck in place, waiting to be hammered to death. His movement ability Time Walk, allows him to move out or sticky situations, or get into them, depending on how adventurous he feels. His Chronosphere allows him to pause time in an area, and then pound on the heroes there, till they’re reduced to a pulp. So, all you need to do for this dude is get him some attack speed, and he can stun-lock almost any isolated hero for a free frag.
The Good:
Best stunlock in the game
Good escape mechanism
Two awesome passive skills
The Bad:
Very fragile for a Melee hero
His HP sucks
Time Lock (Mana Cost- N/A / Cooldown – N/A)
Description: Gives a chance for Darkterror to stun the enemy for 1 sec., and dish additional damage, on a melee hit. The chances are 10%,15%,20%,25% for a stun, and 40,50,60,70 damage per stun, according to the skill level.
This is the best stun in the game, according to me. It stuns the enemy, and at the same time, it dishes out a fair amount of damage. Max out you attack speed and watch this spell stunlock enemy heroes. Along with Chronosphere, this ability makes you a mean killing machine.
Time Walk (Mana Cost- 120 / Cooldown – 12 Sec.)
Description: Makes the hero pass through units in an area really quickly, Slowing all the units at the end of its path for 3 seconds.
Each level increases the range of the maximum range of this spell, from 700,900,1100 to 1300 at lvl 4. The slow effect changes respectively - 10%,20%,30% and 40%. This skill helps you chase units, and escape when you need to do so. You can even walk through obstacles like cliffs and trees, using Time Walk.
Backtrack (Mana Cost- N/A / Cooldown – N/A)
Description: When he receives physical or mystical damage, Darkterror has a chance to move back in time and evade the blows. The chance increases from 10% to 15% to 20% to 25%.
Backtrack is another name for evasion, and when coupled with a Vanguard, allows the Faceless void to take some abuse. The best part of this ability, is that it stacks with the evasion effect from other items. His basic HP is pretty low, so this skill kind of compensates for that. The combination of his two passives form a perfect ganking machine – Time lock ensures heroes get stunned so that they can be pounded, while Backtrack ensures that they don’t get hits on him.
Chronosphere (Mana Cost- 175/200/225/ Cooldown – 120 sec.)
Description: Traps all units in an area for 3, 4.5 or 6 secs., depending on the spell level. Even friendly units/towers in this area are affected by this.
Now this spell is a nice ultimate. You must learn how to use it correctly, else you’ll get your teammates trapped and really pissed off. If you’re casting it on an enemy that’s trying to escape, do not trap you teammate that’s following him by mistake.
Here’s my skill build:
Level 1 – Time Walk lvl 1
Level 2 – Time Lock lvl 1
Level 3 – Backtrack lvl 1
Level 4 – Time Lock lvl 2
Level 5 – Time Lock lvl 3
Level 6 – Chronosphere
Level 7 – Time Lock lvl 4
Level 8 – Time Walk lvl 2
Level 9 – Time Walk lvl 3
Level 10 – Time Walk lvl 4
Level 11 – Chronosphere
Level 12 – Backtrack lvl 2
Max out Backtrack after this, and then go for Stat points…
[Note: The reason I take one level of Backtrack early on, is because the first level increases your evasion by 10%, while other levels increase it by just 5%; so, in my opinion, your are getting good returns for one skill point]
Early Game:
Items you should buy:

Start the game by buying a Stout shield and a Flask. Your objective at this point is just to survive and level up. Incase you have a nuke hero in your lane, buy a Wraith band or Bracer to boost your HP, allowing you to live through his nukes, since Darkterror is very fragile in the beginning. You’ll have to be very careful in the beginning of the game, but don’t loose heart; it will all pay off later, since Darkterror is a mid/late game hero. To compensate for frailty, you shall start working on your first item - Vanguard. Start off by buying a Ring of Health, followed by a Vitality Booster. Once that is complete, buy yourself Boots of Speed to increase your mobility. Try tower hugging and denying whenever possible, since this shrinks the gap between your and your enemy’s level (don’t get yourself killed in the process though, if you can’t deny, it’s ok). So your basic goal in this stage is to complete most of your Vanguard and Boots of Speed.
Mid Game:
Items you should buy:

Your hero becomes slightly more powerful with that Vanguard, and you can afford to take a few risks with the regeneration it provides. But be sure not to get reckless, and try to participate in team ganks rather than solo ones. The damage boost from your Time Lock really starts to kick in at this point, which really helps you farm/harass a bit better. In any case, make sure that you don’t waste mana, since you don’t have a very large mana pool to begin with. You should start working on your Power Treads at this point, which shouldn’t take too long to farm. Once that is complete, collect 900 gold for a Mask of Death, which you should convert into a Mask of Madness, when you collect another 1050 gold. Once that is complete, you can really start stunlocking heroes, try and pick heroes which don’t have great escape skill such as windwalk etc., and make sure that they’re alone. Once you complete farming for this, make yourself a Yasha to increase your attack and move speed even further, since the more speed you have, the better your stun lock is, and the Yasha’s damage boost is always welcome.
End Game:
Items you should buy:

You become a complete damage dealer/hero killer at this stage of the game. Complete your Sange and Yasha to ensure that your enemies don’t run away from you, after which start farming for either a Cranium Basher, or a Butterfly. Once you have either one of those, your damage will be off the scale. If you want to be a little sneaky, get a Lothar’s Edge, so that you can windwalk to your enemies and surprise them with a frustrating stunlock. Your build is pretty much complete at this point, so if the game isn’t over till this point, I suggest getting an Aegis of Immortals to ensure your victory.
