The Wii-xperience
By: Avinash Bali   |   Mar 13, 2007

Before I sit to describe my experience with the console one thing you should know is, that in case you do plan on buying this console, make sure you have tons of place in your room and that you stand at a significant distance from your television set since you will be flailing your hands like a mad man (there’s even a disclaimer before you start Wii sports stating that).

At first glance the Wiimote may look a bit flimsy and it is a bit light as compared to the Xbox 360’s controller but once you hold it in a firm grip it feels right; only thing you have to be careful of is that the controller doesn’t slip out of your hand (trust me you will sweat after half an hour off Wii Sports) or its bye bye TV/monitor and even though you can fasten the controller to your wrist, it has happened to people the world over so be careful.

Different games will make use of the controller differently so in a game like Red Steel you’d probably use it as a gun or a katana while in Excite Truck, you’ll have to use it as a steering wheel. Since Wii sports was the only game we had in our possession, we used the Wiimote as a racket, a gold club, baseball bat and more and as and when we started boxing, we had to attach the Nunchuck controller that doubled up as our second hand.

Before you start the game you’ll have to create an avatar of sorts called a Mii (yeah I chuckled when I heard that name too). No matter how much you try and customize your Mii, it’s still going to end up looking pretty cartoony so don’t waste a lot of time over there and get right to the action.

Loading a disc in the Wii is pretty similar to the PlayStation 3 since there isn’t any tray like the Xbox 360 and thanks to a neat stand bundled with the console you can prop it up horizontally or vertically.

The price mentioned in the article is the rate at which the Wii is being sold in the black market. As of now Nintendo have no plans of launching the Wii officially in India so your best bet would be to wait till the price falls significantly.
Avinash Bali @ Mar 14, 2007
When will it be sold here officially?

In the article it list 22,000rs as the price? Is that official?
Sahil @ Mar 14, 2007
It is sold in India, but not officially for an extremely high price.
Avinash Bali @ Mar 14, 2007
So is it actually sold here in India?
Sahil @ Mar 14, 2007
