Foobar2000

This is how the application is described on the website: Foobar2000 is an advanced audio player for the Windows platform. Some of the basic features include full Unicode support, ReplayGain support and native support for several popular audio formats.
We have been using this for a while, and there's definitely something to this player that amazes us. To begin with you will love the fact that it's light and easy to use. It comes complete with support for various file formats like FLAC, MPC etc and is just 1.67MB. It's strictly to do with music, and is stripped down to just play music. What we like about this player is that it has a 18 band EQ, which offers a lot in terms of arranging the right sound for the music.
Audacity

Apart from being free, Audacity scores handsomely due to the features it offers, from simple editing to multi-track mixing. You can control the bit-depth of your tracks, choose from bit rates, and clean your tracks. You can zoom into the waveform and alter/redraw waveform data to correct distortions or pop clicks in your tracks. This level of control can usually be found only in pro tools.
You have unlimited undo options, and in effects you have amplify, bass boost, high pass filter, echo, delay, click removal etc. Another reason why I like Audacity is that it allows you to load VST plugins. For more you can read a review of this application here.
Free YouTube to MP3 converter
Publisher: Dvdvideosoft Limited

There isn't much to this application, really. We picked it for a simple reason: many people write in to ask if it's possible to rip the sound off your favorite videos on YouTube. Well, the quest led us to a couple of options available online. We chose this one because it's bloody simple: just install it, select your preferred language and you are ready to go. You need to copy and paste the video link in the given space and choose the output directory. The application will rip the sound and convert it to MP3. Easy or what!
