Apple is bringing the Siri AI version later this year and the company is already talking about having paid tiers to give you more usage limits. Apple CEO Tim Cook, speaking during the earnings call recently hinted that people using Siri AI a lot will seek more usage capacity which the company might offer with a higher tier iCloud+ model.

Apple taking the cue from OpenAI and Anthropic is hardly a surprise but the brand could have at least waited till the official Siri AI roll out for iPhone and Mac users before they even think of needing extra usage credit for the AI model.

More you use, higher the charge

Cook did not share the details of how Apple intends to make its Plus or Pro tier Siri AI plans but it is evident that a paid version will enhance its use case for heavy users. OpenAI does it with ChatGPT Plus and Pro models that come with up to unlimited memory and usage access.

Apple relies on a private cloud computing system to power its AI tools and Siri AI will be enhanced further to run on-device which will be an intensive task on its own.

It is expensive to set up and run AI models, and Apple, even with its trillion dollar bank balance will need returns on the heavy investment, which becomes possible with paid versions of Siri AI in the near future.

Making it work

Apple might have ambitions for the premium version but first it needs Siri AI to officially release from the beta stable and show its worth to the billions who will get its access. The company has to follow a slow but a calculated model to succeed and that is possible once people see the value and potential of using Siri AI over the existing behemoths like ChatGPT and Claude among others.

There is no denying that a paid version of Siri is inevitable but Apple needs to make sure the timing is right.
