Gemini now works in Chrome for users in India: Here's how you can use it

Google expanded its AI-powered Gemini assistant right in its browser, and earlier this year, announced that Gemini in Chrome is expanding to multiple regions, including India. The browser’s built-in AI assistant can be used to perform various tasks, such as summarising lengthy articles or posts on the web, booking tickets, or making a purchase autonomously by taking control of the browser. Google Chrome users can also create a pop quiz and pull up web pages from the browser history.

Google first introduced Gemini in Chrome in the U.S. through a floating window in September 2025. In March this year, the company announced that it had been introduced for Indian users as well.
Chrome users can access Gemini by clicking the icon in the top-right corner of the current tab. This opens up a chat panel on the right side, where Chrome users can ask questions and chat with the personalised browsing assistant.
Currently, Gemini in Chrome supports integrations across Google’s most popular apps, including Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube, and more.
Therefore, Chrome users can use the chatbot to schedule meetings via Google Calendar, enter location details to view the time taken to reach that location from Google Maps, or ask questions about YouTube videos. Moreover, the Gmail integration allows Chrome users to compose and send emails via Gemini, without leaving the current tab.
Google has also built Nano Banana 2 directly into Chrome, allowing editing or creation of custom photos to transform images on the go. Just like it is done in Gemini AI chatbot, you can type a prompt in the side panel to explain what image you want to create, allowing the AI agent to understand the command and transform the photo without needing to upload files or open a new tab.

Google has confirmed that Gemini in Chrome now supports 50 more languages, including popular Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.
It is available for Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users. Interestingly, the iOS version of Chrome also supports this tool. On Android devices, Gemini can be activated by holding the power button while using Chrome or other apps.
