Instagram is testing new AI creator label for better clarity on profiles and content

Instagram is fully diving into the AI world and warming up to the idea of having AI creators platforming their content on its app. So, the company has started testing a new AI creator label that will be optional but visible to people viewing their profile. The test phase means the access to the new label is limited for now but will be expanded to more users in the coming weeks.
AI content and creators are impossible to ignore anymore and Instagram is setting up the deck with new terms, labels and clarity for users who don’t want to be misled with manipulated content on the platform.

Instagram will offer the new label on the profile of the creator as well as the content they make using AI. The platform has offered the ‘AI Info’ label for a while which is automatically applied when it detects use of AI tools in creating the video. So how does the new label work?

"In instances when content is labeled as “AI info” and posted by a labeled AI creator, the “AI info” label will appear on the content instead of the “AI creator” label," Instagram explains in a post.

Instagram is offering these labels for better transparency to the users and making them aware about the use of AI in making content and how it changes their view about the video/image they consume. "This label makes it easier to understand how content is made, who’s behind it, and what’s worth your attention so that creativity stands out, and people can trust what they discover," the post adds.
Instagram has also detailed about the new label can be added:
- Go to your Instagram profile
- Tap “Edit profile,”
- Enable the toggle bar on the AI creator label
- The new AI label will automatically appear on the profile’s bio and below the username
