YouTube is entering the search arena with a big dose of AI and letting you get answers in text, videos and even short content. Search has been Google’s mainstay for years but with the changing demands from users and most looking for interactive content, YouTube could be Google’s next-gen search model that evolves with the AI element.

It is called Ask YouTube and the platform is testing the feature in its home region with the Premium subscribers with the non-Premium users also expected to be given the option at a later date.

YouTube taking on Search

What do most users need YouTube for besides finding music or even movie trailers, they search. And the new AI option is trying to give you the best of multiple worlds. With Ask YouTube you can make the platform set up a travel plan for 3 days and get a day-to-day schedule based on your preferences.

Google has Gemini and the AI model is being sprinkled across products, including the AI mode which works through the regular Search. YouTube was always going to be part of the plans and the new option available to those in the US for now, will be rolling out to more regions.

Is it fair to say that Google is making its own products compete with each other, in a way it is but this is a good problem to have as the end goal is to have the AI model churning out the responses and gathering data for its own growth.

Earlier this week, Google enabled Aadhaar-based digital identity support in Google Wallet for users in India. The update allows individuals to store their Aadhaar details on their smartphones as a digital credential that can be used for identity verification. The rollout is part of Google’s broader effort to expand digital ID capabilities across markets while reducing dependence on physical documents.
