Redmi 17 has been globally unveiled and the new phone comes in both 4G and 5G variants to help with lower pricing in the market. Redmi 17 is supposed to be the budget version below the Redmi Note 17 lineup but these days we see basic phone specs costing in the mid-range bracket, and Xiaomi is trying its best to keep the Redmi 17 more accessible by bringing a 4G variant in 2026 which would have been unthinkable before.

Redmi 17 4G and 5G prices 

The Redmi 17 4G price starts at MYR 669 (Rs 15,400 approx) in Malaysia for the 4GB + 128GB model, while the Redmi 17 5G version comes at MYR 769 (Rs 17,400) which is available in the same RAM and storage configuration. You get the 5G variant in 4GB + 256GB option as well which is priced at MYR 869 (Rs 19,400 approx) in the country. This should probably give you an idea about how Xiaomi intends to price the Redmi 17 in India and going lower on RAM might be one of the choice.

Redmi 17 specifications 

Redmi 17 gets a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate, 825 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass 7i for protection. It comes with IP64 rating which gives it some level of durability against water splashes. The 4G model is using a MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, while the 5G version goes for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, and both come with 4GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

Both the Redmi 17 versions come with a 50MP rear and an 8MP selfie camera. They come packing a 7,500mAh battery which supports 45W wired charging speed. Xiaomis offering the phones with the latest Android 16-based HyperOS 3 version and should be upgraded to the new version soon.

Redmi 17 India launch is expected soon and we won’t be surprised to see Xiaomi bring both the 4G and 5G variants to the market albeit in phases.
