Google has announced a new set of Gemini-powered features for Chrome on Android during Android Show 2026. The update introduces AI-assisted browsing, automated web actions and image customisation tools aimed at making Chrome more interactive and context-aware on Android smartphones.

The company said the new features are powered by Gemini 3.1, Google’s latest AI model. According to Google, Gemini integration for Chrome on Android will start rolling out later this June to select Android devices running Android 12 or newer in the United States.

One of the biggest additions is Gemini acting as a built-in browsing assistant inside Chrome. Users will be able to access Gemini through a dedicated icon in the Chrome toolbar. Once activated, Gemini appears at the bottom of the screen and can answer questions related to the webpage being viewed without requiring users to switch between apps or tabs.

Google said the AI assistant can summarise long articles, explain complex information and provide contextual answers based on webpage content. The company stated that the feature is designed to simplify browsing and reduce the need for multitasking while reading online content.

Gemini in Chrome is also getting deeper integration with Google services such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Keep. During demonstrations, Google showed how users could save recipe ingredients to Keep, add events to Calendar and search Gmail for relevant information while browsing websites.

Another feature introduced at the event is Nano Banana, an AI-powered image editing and visual generation tool integrated into Chrome. Google said users can turn webpage information into infographics or modify images using text prompts. In one example, Gemini rearranged furniture inside an apartment listing image based on user instructions.

Google also announced a feature called auto browse for Android. The tool can automate repetitive online actions using information from emails, tickets or webpages. Demonstrations included Chrome automatically finding parking for an event and updating recurring online shopping orders.

According to Google, auto browse will always ask for user confirmation before completing sensitive tasks such as purchases or posting online content.
