Google I/O 2026 is just a few weeks away but the company has The Android Show lined up before the big developer event in May. The I/O Edition of Android Show has been confirmed and it comes with a strong message for the public with a lot expected to be showcased at the latest version of this Android-focused briefing.

Last year’s Android Show had a lot of new products announced with most of them getting released later in the year. The 2026 edition should have even more new stuff from Google and the company has teased it saying “this is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet.”

Android Show 2026: What will Google have for us this year

Android 17 will be the core highlight of this year’s show but branching out to different platforms, we could see the new Android number operating on tablets, foldables, inside cars and Gemini integration as well. The show teaser doesn’t reveal much in terms of the expected updates but it is easy to see the path Google and Android will be taking this year with a heavy emphasis on AI within the platform and across devices.

We have seen rumours about Google making Pixel devices power as a desktop version on the bigger screen. This might be the ideal platform to at least give us more details before the main I/O 2026 keynote later in the month to give actual demos of the support.

Foldables need more software impetus and Android will be at the center of this evolution with more interface-based tweaks and make the form factor more conducive for Android to be as reliable as the regular version.

Android is also going to be running through smart glasses and Google should have more to share about the products that will be rolling out to the market and compete with Meta’s Ray Ban glasses in the near future. So yeah, lot to look forward to with the Android Show next month and a nice build up before the main course is served with the Google I/O 2026 keynote which starts from May 19 and hosted by Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google from the California base.
