The Summer is slowly hitting peak form and that means time to dust off the cobwebs on the ACs and get them ready to keep you cool. Getting AC serviced can be easy as the technician is booked, makes the visit and helps your system up and running. However, there is a big scam that has been brewing behind the scenes which many don’t know about and it is called the AC gas scam.

How it all starts

The person coming over to service/repair the AC will start inspecting the system and make sure that all the parts are working in fine condition. They will clean the parts and different components inside the AC, and the outer unit for the split version.

Once all this is done, the technician will check the pressure levels of gas inside the AC. Now, people must remember that this gas is pivotal for the cooling level and any leak could hinder its performance and also become dangerous to the surroundings.

So the ac gas leak warning makes the person worried, they ask how much to fix the issue, the technician will quote you a price. There is a good chance that the ac leak was real and they did not try to scam you into paying extra money. However, it is important that people are aware about this scam and also know what to do if they ever face this with the technician.

What to do

  • Since the gas in your AC affects the cooling, people should turn on the AC before the serving starts.
