Redmi has launched the new Redmi A7 Pro 5G budget phone in the Indian market this week. The segment has changed with the ongoing memory shortage but buyers are there looking to either upgrade or get themselves a reliable device in the modest range. The new Redmi A-series phone has a Unisoc chipset and surprisingly comes with Android 16-based HyperOS version out of the box. It features a dual rear camera and a large battery.

Redmi A7 Pro price in India starts at Rs 11,499 for the base 4GB + 64GB model, going up to Rs 12,499 if you want the same RAM with 128GB storage. Xiaomi will start selling the Redmi A7 Pro from April 15 in the country .

The new Redmi phone has a 6.9-inch display with HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by Unisoc T8300 processor with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which you can expand further up to 2TB using the built-in microSD card slot. 

Xiaomi does manage to bring the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 version to the budget Redmi phone and the brand is promising it will bring 4 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates for the device. You can also make use of features like Gemini and Circle to search. On the imaging front, Redmi A7 Pro has a 32MP main sensor along with a depth sensor. There is an 8MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. 

For connectivity the phone has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4 and the standard USB C port for charging and data transfers. Redmi A7 Pro also is IP52 rated which offers some level resistance to splashes. And finally, you get the phone with a large 6,300mAh battery that supports 15W wired charging speed and 7W reverse wired charging support to charge other devices. 

This is not your typical budget phone but we are in a time when the normal doesn’t exist. Budget phones with 4GB RAM would have cost you under Rs 10,000 last year but now, the market is different and we are seeing its impact.
