Netflix is taking on Reels and TikTok with new vertical video ‘Clips’ feed

Netflix is the latest video platform to get enticed by the rage around short vertical videos and Clips is the new hub for all the content that millions might watch on their phone’s screen. This is part of the Netflix mobile and Clips basically helps you get a short version of the content library hosted by the platform and you can watch it before deciding to play the full movie or video.
Netflix has touted this new version of short vertical videos in a feed previously and Clips is the result of its focus on this medium for billions of its users.

Clips will be available within the main Netflix mobile app and you don’t need to download anything new to access the vertical content. The new feed will be offered via an update for Netflix mobile users in India, US, UK, Australia, Canada and Pakistan among others. More regions will be offered the new updated feed in the coming months.

Netflix is not shying away from its pivot to vertical content but doesn’t need users to generate it like Reels and TikTok. The platform will offer a new way for people to see clips of movies and shows available which they can see (a better version than trailers) to watch later.
“You'll see short clips from series, films, and specials tailored to your tastes, with an easy way to go deeper when something grabs your attention,” Netflix points out in its post about the new addition.
You will see Clips in the bottom menu of the Netflix app and when you tap the option Netflix will show you vertical shows and movie clips on the feed that you can swipe and move to the next content.
Vertical videos are popular and Shorts content has shown the need for more platforms to support and give users the option. Netflix doing it felt inevitable and Clips is their answer to the rage around the format and content.
