More Ultra: Apple could have more than just one premium device launching this year

Apple is going through a wholesale change in 2026 and it is not just about the small matter of Tim Cook giving way for John Ternus to take over as the company’s CEO. The new guy will come in with a huge set of expectations, bring his hardware expertise and take Apple to newer heights. And it seems that an Ultra (or two) is widely tipped to be part of the new era at Cupertino.
The report from MacWorld this week hints at Apple finally going Ultra with not just its foldable iPhone but another popular category for the brand.

Not one but two Ultra: What Apple might do this year
We have been hearing about the Apple foldable going for the iPhone Ultra moniker and more rumours seem to suggest the same. But the new report claims Apple will have a MacBook Ultra version also rolling out this year itself and it will be the first-ever touchscreen model from the company.

This is also going to be the premium OLED version of the MacBook that Apple has been working towards for a while and even now we could see the product getting a delayed release while the official unveiling is expected this year in front of the public. The ongoing memory shortage is likely to impact Apple’s plans so don’t be surprised if the MacBook OLED version doesn’t get a wider release initially while the foldable iPhone take all the limelight.
The new Ultra segment also allows Apple to go higher with the price bracket that we have already seen happen with the iPhone Pro, MacBook Air and the Pro series in the last few years. Tetanus will be spearheading a new and exciting lineup of products that should have smart glasses and hopefully the new AI Siri that we have been waiting for a while.
That said, Apple is yet to confirm its plans for these products and for now we just have to wait for the WWDC 2026 in June to see if there are some hints about what to expect later this year.
