Redmi Note 17 5G Mobile Launch In India: Expect Prices To Be Over Rs 30000 At Least

Redmi has officially started teasing the Note 17’s arrival in India, and leaked pricing suggests it won’t come cheap. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed a launch date or specifications yet, but between the teaser campaign and a string of tipster leaks, most of the picture is already filled in.

Redmi India posted a teaser video on X showing a brief glimpse of the phone’s rear panel, featuring a rectangular camera module, alongside a clear focus on battery life. The tagline reads: “When the days get longer, the mAhster takes over. The all-new Redmi Note is built to outlast them all.” Xiaomi has also set up a dedicated microsite for the phone on both its India website and Amazon, confirming where it’ll be sold once it launches.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) claims the Redmi Note 17 could be priced at Rs 30,000 for the 6GB plus 128GB variant, and Rs 33,000 for the 8GB plus 128GB option in India. He’d previously also pointed to August 6 as the likely India launch date, and suggested the Indian variant might differ from its Chinese counterpart in some way, without specifying what that change might be.

Other reports floating around put the base variant pricing in a similar range, generally above Rs 30,000, with a first sale date tipped for August 11. For context, the outgoing Redmi Note 15 launched in India at Rs 22,999, so if these numbers hold up, the Note 17 would mark a fairly steep price increase over its predecessor.
China Launch
Xiaomi already introduced the Note 17 series in China on July 14, with two models: the standard Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro. Whether the Pro variant also makes it to India remains unconfirmed.
The Chinese Redmi Note 17 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, paired with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, and goes up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It features a 7-inch Full-HD Plus OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. Battery capacity sits at 8,000mAh with 45W wired charging, and the phone also includes stereo speakers, NFC, an IR blaster, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and an IP66 rating. In China, the base 6GB plus 128GB variant launched at CNY 1,299, roughly Rs 18,000, though Indian pricing is expected to land considerably higher given import duties and local market positioning.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro, meanwhile, uses a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, with configurations up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It carries a larger 9,000mAh battery with 67W wired and 22.5W reverse wired charging, a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display at 120Hz, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a more rugged build with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, all layered on top of HyperOS 3.
