Google I/O 2026 keynote soon: Gemini AI, agents and what more to expect this year

Google is going into AI at a breakneck speed and it is about time that we see Gemini made available to more users with more tools for free. The company will have the ideal platform to showcase the new AI stuff at the I/O 2026 which starts with the keynote later this month and Google CEO Sundar Pichai has recently shared a teaser about what to expect this year from the company’s developer event.
Pichai was speaking during the latest earnings call and without revealing all the details, he shared what people will be seeing in a few weeks time.

Pichai in his call said Google is excited to share more about Search which is going to be linked with Gemini AI in many ways. You can also expect the Gemini 4.0 version unveiled with some of the major advancements in the AI model and how it might have Mythos-like abilities which will have people excited and worried in equal measure.

Android 17 is also going to be a big part of the event, although Pichai is likely to reserve his pitch for AI to appease the developers and shareholders. There has been a lot of talk around the new desktop mode for Pixel devices which will be a useful addition to the platform and hopefully Google has more to share for the developers and show them the way forward.
And before the I/O 2026 keynote, there will be the Android Show where more new stuff will be announced by the company. The 2026 edition should have more new stuff from Google and the company has teased it saying “this is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet.”
Android is also going to be running through smart glasses and Google should have more to share about the products that will be rolling out to the market and compete with Meta’s Ray Ban glasses in the near future.
