Meta has launched a new "incognito" mode for WhatsApp users, designed to enhance user privacy during conversations with its AI chatbot, Meta AI. This significant update addresses long-standing concerns regarding sensitive information shared within artificial intelligence interactions, aiming to provide a more secure environment for users.
The new incognito chat mode facilitates private, temporary exchanges with Meta AI, which has been integrated into WhatsApp for several years. According to Meta, messages within this mode will be processed in a secure environment inaccessible even to the company. Crucially, these conversations will not be saved by default and will disappear automatically upon exiting a session.

Cathcart explained that the AI will guide users towards helpful information when possible, refuse inappropriate questions, and may cease interaction entirely if necessary, promoting a responsible user experience.
Feature limitations and access
Currently, users in incognito mode can only engage through text-based questions and receive text responses. The functionality does not support uploading or generating images. Additionally, age verification is required, as Meta prohibits users under 13 from accessing its platforms, ensuring compliance with age restrictions.
