Microsoft is fixing the Windows 11 update problem for users: Here are the 4 new rules

Windows users have complained about their PC updates starting at the worst possible time. Many have demanded Microsoft change how these updates start working on their system, and it seems the company has finally decided to fix the issue once and for all. Windows PC users now have the power to decide when these updates install on their system and they can pause the option for as long as 35 days. These tweaks have been made to improve the experience of using Windows which many claim has become too jarring over the last few Windows 11 updates from the company.

Microsoft has informed the new changes via a blog post which says, ““We are continually reading the feedback submitted about the Windows update experience.”
The first big change to the update policy is that you can pause the installation for up to 35 days at a time. And even after using this option, you can further extend the pause for another 35 days, giving users the flexibility to decide when they really want the update to be installed. Microsoft has basically put no limits on the number of days you can pause the update. However, you will have to manually select the pause option otherwise the Windows 11 update will be back to annoy you again.

No more early setup
The other tweak to the update policy is linked to when you set up a new machine and Windows suddenly asks you to wait for the new version to be installed which could take more than a few minutes. Microsoft says you can skip the out-of-box experience or OOBE process to install updates and do it after setting up your account and other details on the device.
And the final update-related change is linked to your system needing ‘update and restart’ or update and shut down’ options chosen. The company will now let you simply restart or shut down and you can install the update later.
Giving more details
All this becomes extremely useful, especially with the fact that all Windows updates will now offer more details about its purpose and what all aspects of the device does it cater to so that users can take the call of installing the update right away or pause them for a while.
The new options will be available for the Windows Insider and Dev Channels initially and will be coming to all Windows users later this year.
